Uses

A working list. Trimmed when something stops being true.

Hardware

• Laptop: 14-inch MacBook Pro, M-series. Single external display for writing.
• Keyboard: low-profile mechanical. Quiet enough for the next room.
• Mouse: none. Trackpad and keyboard only.
• Phone: whatever still has a working battery.

Editor and shell

• Editor: VS Code with a single colorscheme, no minimap, no popups. The font is JetBrains Mono.
• Shell: zsh with starship.
• Terminal: Ghostty.
• Multiplexer: tmux when I forget I have it, plain panes otherwise.

Writing

• Markdown drafts in the same editor as the code.
• This site is Astro 5 + Svelte islands, deployed to Cloudflare Pages. Source lives in a single repo. See docs/publish.md for how it ships.

Web

• Browser: a Chromium fork. The default search is Kagi.
• RSS reader: see the rebuild notes.
• Notes: plain .md files in a git repo. No app, no sync.

Travel

• Light backpack, one shirt I’ll regret packing, a fountain pen that leaks.
• Field notes (most of them) end up on the gallery.
